Stroud - An area of hills, valleys and canals, an area of outstanding natural beauty. Stroud was once the industrial centre of the Cotswolds, being built upon the wool industry.
A balloon flight from Stroud will give you glorious views of the surrounding villages embedded into the countryside. Depending on the wind direction on the day of your flight your balloon ride may take you over any one of the beautiful valleys surrounding Stroud.
Nailsworth Valley - once a cloth making town situated at the foot of the deep wooded valley.Slad Valley - the grey-stone village of Slad was also once a cloth making town. Immortalised by the poet and author Laurie Lee, Slad was the location for the filming of 'Cider with Rosie'.
Cam Valley - where one working mill remains producing high quality cloth. Heading South East you see the largest of the valleys, Chalford Valley (Golden Valley), with the River Frome running through it.
Cheltenham - If the wind is right our hot air balloon rides are sometimes from Cheltenham Racecourse providing views of the Regency Spa Tow, Vale of Severn and the magnificent surrounding countryside.
Cheltenham became a spa town in 1716. The town received Royal patronage in 1788 when King George III came to drink the waters. This led to the rapid development of Cheltenham as a fashionable spa between 1790 and 1840. The heritage of those bygone times can be seen in the town's Regency architecture, with intricate ironwork a feature of distinctive townhouse facades. Cheltenham is the most complete Regency town in England.
Most of the town centre lies within a conservation area of outstanding importance. The town was patronised by a stream of noble and Royal visitors, including the Duke of Wellington and Princess (later Queen) Victoria.
In the pictures below you can see one of our balloon rides went right over the Severn!
