We fly from an area between Glastonbury and Wells called North Wootton. This is a beautiful village, nestled in the Somerset countryside.
Many people presume that because the flight starts in the countryside that it will be a boring flight, this is very wrong. Although you fly over the Somerset Levels and see a lot of countryside, this has to be one of the most stunningly beautiful areas to fly. Because you are flying over the Levels you can see for miles and it feels as though you are floating on top of the world!
When visibility is good, from above North Wootton you will see the Bristol Channel and the Severn Bridge Crossing in the distance. To the north the Mendip Hills form a barrier and to the south the Somerset Levels stretch away into the horizon. Notable landmarks include Cheddar Gorge, Wells Cathedral and the Quantock Hills. You don't need to take a hill walk to see Glastonbury Tor as you will view it from above, but wind direction will predict how close or far away you are from it.
Fly over Wells, England's smallest city, and you will see Wells Cathedral, fly over Glastonbury and see the Abbey. Ballooning is always a journey of discovery - until the day of your flight we never know which direction we will be flying.
